Mission: Marriage is a lifetime process of change and adjustment. The marriage preparation team at St. Anne’s wants to make every effort to support couples in preparing for a lifetime of marriage.
History: Marriage Preparation was instituted by Father Skillin.
About: Each engaged couple preparing for marriage is required to meet with a marriage preparation couple for at least three sessions or they must attend a weekend engagement encounter. These meetings may be held in the St. Anne’s Rectory. Prior to the meeting with the marriage preparation couple, each engaged couple must take to premarital inventory available at the parish office or by taking it online.
The program consists of three sessions help with an individual couple in the home of a married preparation couple in which the following topics are covered: communication skills, love, the role of the couple in marriage (who does what, Finances, in-laws, number of children, disciplining the children, traditions), the value of prayer in life, the sacraments ( with an emphasis on Matrimony),fidelity, sex in marriage, the Catholic Church’s beliefs on Family planning, and other topics important for a successful marriage. The emphasis is on the necessity for good communication and prayer.
