I was born in San Francisco in 1986 to Oscar and Ana De Trinidad, who emigrated from Managua, Nicaragua as a result of the country’s civil war. From K-8, I attended St. Thomas More Catholic Elementary School. Having moved to Stockton during my freshman year of high school, I received my high school diploma from Central Catholic High School in Modesto. I then attended the Jesuit University of San Francisco, where I took ethics, Catholic theology, and philosophy courses while attaining a B.A. in U.S. History. I taught multiple subjects at St. Luke’s Catholic Elementary School in Stockton for 5 years, and I have taught in the middle school at St. Anne's for two years. I am blessed to have a holy wife, Monique, and a beautiful two year old daughter, Sofia, who continues to provide me with ample opportunities to grow in her namesake. We also welcomed my son, Adrian, into the world this past year. I continue to be part of the St. Anne’s family with a humble and grateful heart. I look forward to continue doing God’s work in His vineyard.
In this class ,we use Sadlier School Common Core Progress as our main textbook. This is a great text which covers all of the new standards. We supplement this book with classic novels throughout the year. IXL is used as a supplement to reinforce grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and writing.
Spanish is taught from grades 6-8. The areas of study include reading, writing, listening and speaking. Duolingo and the "¡Viva El Español!" curriculum series are used. Awareness of cultural distinctions amonsgt the countries of Spain and Latin America are introduced in these three years of junior high. Cultural fluency, as much as linguistic fluency, is of great import in our program.
Our text book is Christ our Life and there are many activities that reinforce our Catholic faith. The 8th grade class is in charge of the Mass Family activities and this is a wonderful opportunity to practice our faith and also our leadership skills. Since this is a confirmation year, we have many requirements that the need to be fulfilled. I work closely with Sister to make sure that all of our students are able to fulfill all of the requirements.
