I am looking forward to an exciting 2016-17 school year. Next year will be my 16th year at St. Anne's school. I am a graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in Business Administration. I returned to school to get my teaching credential and taught in High School until our first child was born. I was a stay-at-home mom until my youngest child was in third grade here at St. Anne's. The 2015-16 school year was my first year as a homeroom teacher and I really enjoyed it! My husband and I have four children, who all attended St. Anne's School. Being a parent and a teacher at this school has given me so many wonderful experiences and I believe that great things happen here!
In our Language Arts Class, grammar is the main focus. Houghton Mifflin English is our text book and we supplement with IXL. We build vocabulary using a Vocabu-Lit curriculum from Perfection Learning. Scope magazine is used in both ELA and Comp/Lit to reinforce grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and writing skills.
In this class ,we use Sadlier School Common Core Progress as our main textbook. This is a great text which covers all of the new standards. We supplement this book with classic novels throughout the year. Our writing program is rubric based and is a combination of the DeLange Henderson writing program and Sadlier Common Core Progress. Scholastic Scope magazine is used as a supplement to reinforce grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and writing.
We begin every day in Religion with a 3 minute retreat and reflection period. Our text book is Christ our Life and there are many activities that reinforce our Catholic faith. The 8th grade class is in charge of the Mass Family activities and this is a wonderful opportunity to practice our faith and also our leadership skills. Since this is a confirmation year, we have many requirements that the need to be fulfilled. I work closely with Sister to make sure that all of our students are able to fulfill all of the requirements.
